Post Graduate Medical Centre – Addenbrookes Hospital

We were recently approached by The PGMC (Post Graduate Medical Centre) based at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, to design and develop a new ecommerce website.

“The Future of Medical Education”

WHO ARE THE PGMC?

PGMC provide education, training and continuing development for health professionals at Cambridge University Hospitals Foundation Trust (CUHFT).

How we helped..

A QUICK OVERVIEW

After an in-depth briefing session, it was clear our brief had expanded to create an online business application rather than a traditional ecommerce site. The aim of the website was to provide a platform for showcasing training courses for the health professionals and to allow them to plan, apply and pay for the courses online, digitizing a time consuming manual process, which would save the internal team time and money.

The team at Rubber Cheese are responsive and efficient, always willing to listen and to provide advice

Booking through the PGMC website has many benefits including less printing and collating of course materials resulting in a cost saving on stationery and man hours putting together course materials. Booking and making payments on-line has proved to be a popular and efficient method of paying for courses. This method of payment saves on the amount of time processing paperwork, and makes booking easier. Overall the PGMC has made a saving on employing temporary staff, together with a saving on printing and stationery.

The finer details..

THE WEB SYSTEM

We developed a fully bespoke PHP site, including course booking taking payments direct through the site, with built in invoicing ability and a bespoke admin system for the courses.

We designed the website to appear very simple and clean, highlighting key areas of importance, making the site extremely easy to navigate. The site is fully responsive allowing their audience to view the site on their mobile or tablet devices. A bespoke Content Management System was created for the development of this site allowing the client to add courses and further content as and when required.

The Results

ONLY THE BEGINNING

Since the successful launch in 2013 the bespoke site has transformed the day to day internal processes, saving the team both time and expense.

We’re constantly looking for ways to improve the application with the PGMC team and have recently introduced seminar booking functions which will save them yet more administration time.

We’ve recently completed a second site specifically for The Evelyn Cambridge Surgical Training Centre.
